Mass Communication

The philosophy of Mountain Top University’s (MTU) Mass Communication programme is to produce graduates who are academically and professionally empowered with the competencies required to discharge their duties to society. Graduates will be morally and spiritually strengthened to excel in their families and the society at large. The programme’s philosophy includes producing Mass Communication graduates who are conscious of their social responsibilities as Mass Communicators, who would strive to become employers of labour and not remain employees. In addition, we aim at producing graduates who will spare no effort to make the society worth living in.

  • To produce journalists, advertising and public relations professionals, film experts and book publishers for leadership positions in Nigeria and across the world.
  • To help raise and sustain the status of the professions in Mass Communication.
  • To produce professionals who can communicate effectively and positively with different members of the society irrespective of their educational attainment.
  • To instill in graduates the virtues of hard work, respect for the law of the land and ethical philosophy of the profession through respect for the deadline.
  • To train professionals who will continue to act as the voice of the voiceless, watchdog of the various arms of government and socially responsible agents of the Fourth Estate of the Realm.
  • To produce Mass Communication graduates who are globally relevant through the use of innovations in Information Technology (IT) and who would creatively produce communication materials to meet societal needs, using research-based knowledge and techniques.
  • To produce Mass Communication graduates who will be partners in the search for solutions to the myriads of problems confronting society.
  • To produce God fearing Mass Communication graduates who will be role models and are dedicated to improving and making the society a better place.
